Het pleidooi van mr. Huber, I-III.
In: De Standaard 17 (1888), no. 5093, October 17, 1888; no. 5095, October 19, 1888; no. 5097, October 22, 1888.
ET: The plea of Mr. Huber.
Series of three articles in which Kuyper attacked the stance of U.H. Huber, a member of parliament for the ARP. In the fall of 1888, A.F. de Savornin Lohman and H.J.A.M. Schaepman had tried to introduce new rules of procedure in parliament on behalf of the coalition. Under the new rules they proposed, individual members of parliament would have to relinquish power to the political factions. Huber stated in the Frisian antirevolutionary newspaper Het Noorden that he feared the new rules would restrict the freedom of movement of individual members of parliament. In these articles Kuyper argued that Huber's headstrong behavior was nothing more than “pure conservatism”.
